Air-gapped wallet

Security and Privacy

An air-grapped wallet is a crypto wallet kept fully offline so its private keys can never be exposed to an internet-connected device. Instead of connecting directly to a website or app, the wallet signs transaction data offline and then transfers the signed transaction via QR code or a memory card. An air-gapped wallet is often used for higher-security storage and designed for users who want to reduce the risk of remote hacking, malware, and phishing sites. An air-gapped wallet requires careful setup because the user is responsible for protecting backups and confirming transaction details.

For example, a user holding Bitcoin for long-term storage may keep an air-gapped wallet offline and use QR codes to sign a transaction without connecting the wallet to the internet.
