An all-time high is the highest price a crypto asset has ever reached on a specific market, platform, or price index. It is often used as a reference point where traders compare a live price with prior peaks. An all-time high does not mean the crypto token will return to that price, and different data providers may show slightly different highs depending on the trading venue and currency used. In simple terms, an all-time high is the highest recorded price in the chosen data set.
For example, if Bitcoin previously reached $100,000 on a specific price index and later trades at $85,000, it would be accurate for traders to say Bitcoin is trading 15% below its all-time high.
