Desktop wallet

A desktop wallet is a crypto wallet installed on a desktop or laptop computer. It lets users manage wallet addresses, private keys, balances, and transactions from that trusted device. Some desktop wallets are full-featured apps that support multiple assets. Others are built for use across a single blockchain. A desktop wallet can be custodial or non-custodial depending on who controls the private keys. Because it runs on a computer, its security depends on the wallet software, device security, backups, and how the user stores the recovery phrase.

Electrum is a desktop wallet. A user can install it on a computer, create a Bitcoin wallet, generate receiving addresses, and sign Bitcoin transactions from the desktop app.
