Travel & Crypto: A New Match

If you’re itching to travel again – safely, of course – there is now a new option to book your hotels and pay for them using cryptocurrency. A new partnership between Expedia Partner Solutions (a partnership brand of Expedia Group) and Travala, a blockchain-based travel booking platform, will expand the payment options available for travelers to include cryptocurrency as a payment method for more than 700,000 accommodation options.

More than 30 different cryptocurrencies are available through Travala - notably, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), which you can buy/sell through your Ndax accounts. Payments using cryptocurrency will be processed through Rapid, a booking program interface or, API, offered by Expedia Partner Solutions (EPS).

This partnership is not a new endeavor for both companies. Previously, Expedia Group accepted BTC payments but scrapped that option. This time through Travala.com, CEO Juan Otero says the re-integration is to “give consumers payment choice and transparent pricing for every trip booked." Future plans include using cryptocurrency to purchase flights.

As the world moves shifts towards online options; the ease and use of cryptocurrency will become more prevalent across more industries.
