Berachain has introduced a new governance proposal, BRIP-0007, to reduce transaction inclusion times from two seconds to just 200 milliseconds, positioning the network among blockchain platforms pursuing real-time performance. The proposal adds an optional preconfirmation layer using a lightweight sequencer that groups transactions into partial blocks, giving users near-instant confirmation while preserving the existing consensus structure. The system would particularly benefit DeFi, gaming, and high-frequency trading applications, providing Web2-like responsiveness with onchain security. If the sequencer encounters issues, the network would revert to its default two-second block cycle to maintain stability. Similar preconfirmation systems have been tested across Ethereum layer-2s, Base’s Flashblocks, and Primev’s mainnet integration earlier this year. Cointelegraph

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that all trade negotiations with Canada have been halted, referencing a political advertisement from Ontario that criticized tariffs. Trump described the ad as misleading and said it influenced his decision to end discussions. The announcement comes amid continued disagreements between the two countries over steel, aluminum, and auto tariffs. Mark Carney stated that while Canada cannot dictate U.S. trade policy, it remains willing to resume negotiations when the United States is ready. White House adviser Kevin Hassett later said the decision reflected growing frustration with what he described as limited flexibility from the Canadian side. Yahoo Finance

A coalition of major crypto wallet providers has joined SEAL, a nonprofit cybersecurity group, to launch a real-time phishing defense network aimed at stopping drainer attacks that have stolen over $538 million this year. The system enables users to submit cryptographically verified reports of malicious sites, allowing automated detection and faster blocking of phishing domains across participating wallets. The initiative replaces manual review processes with a shared verification framework, turning individual user reports into network-wide protection. CryptoSlate
