Appchain

An appchain is a blockchain built mainly for one application, product or ecosystem. Instead of sharing a general-purpose network with unrelated apps, an appchain customizes its own rules, fees, validators, performance, and governance around a single use case. This can give the application greater control over speed and design. Critics argue it can also create additional complexity for some users as they may need to understand which network they are on, how assets move to or from the appchain, and whether bridges or special wallets are required.

For example a gaming project can run its own appchain so gameplay transactions follow rules, fees, and performance settings designed for that one application.
