How to deposit BTC using the Lightning Network

Lightning Network vs. Bitcoin network

You can deposit Bitcoin (BTC) to Ndax over the Lightning Network, which usually takes seconds and is free from Ndax. Instead of a wallet address, you create a Lightning invoice for the exact amount, then pay it from a wallet that supports Lightning. Invoices are valid for 1 hour and can be from 0.000001 to 0.1 BTC.

Warning: Only use the Lightning Network if your sending wallet supports Lightning payments. Send the exact invoice amount. If you send more or less, the payment will fail.

When you deposit BTC, you can choose the Bitcoin (on-chain), Binance Smart Chain (BEP20), or Lightning Network.

Before you begin
  • Your sending wallet must support Lightning.
  • Limits: each invoice can be from 0.000001 BTC to 0.1 BTC (10 million sats). Amounts outside this range can't be invoiced.
  • Exact amount: you must send the exact invoice amount.
  • Invoices expire after 1 hour. Create a new one if yours expires.
  • Fees: Ndax charges a 0.2% fee for BTC deposits made through the Lightning Network. Your sending wallet may also charge a network fee.
  • More than one invoice: you can create several, but limits on how often may apply. If you see a limit message, wait before creating another.

Troubleshooting

I can't create an invoice. Check that your amount is between 0.000001 and 0.1 BTC. If you've created several invoices, you may need to wait before creating another.

My payment failed. Make sure you sent the exact invoice amount, and that the invoice hadn't expired. Create a new invoice and try again.
